Step 1: Log in to your Gmail Account. Below given screen will appear. Then go to the “settings” button (marked in the picture). As soon as you will click on the button a list will appear from which you have to choose “Configure inbox”.
Step 2 : When you will click on “Configure inbox” then following screen will appear.
Step 3: Now select the tabs you wish to configure to your Inbox. Al the tabs utility is mentioned below:
Now your updated, refreshed Inbox version will appear like this. You
can remove any tab any moment you feel it’s worthless for your Inbox.
Also you can add starred emails to primary tab if you want. But if you
select only one category then gmail will appear as per its old format.

- Primary – under this tab all the general and usual emails will appear. All person to person conversation will also appear under this section. It’s a default tab you can’t avoid this section.
- Social – all the mails and messages from different social network, media sharing sites and all the networking sites which are related to your Gmail Account.
- Promotions – all the offers, deal, promotional and marketing emails will be accommodated under this tab.
- Update – any personal or auto generated updates will reside inside this section which will also involve any kind of bill, receipt, confirmation or statements.
- Formats – this category holds mails from online communities, google groups, other online groups, mailing list and discussion boards.
