Google Rolls Out Penguin Update 4

Penguin Update 4The most talked about link-spam fighting algorithm Penguin Update 4 is rolled out by Google on May 22, 2013. This update is also referred by Google as “Penguin 2.0 or the next generation penguin.”
 
As of now, the roll out is completed, noticeably affecting 2.3% of English-US search queries. The last update Penguin 3 was rolled out on Oct 5th, 2012 affecting 0.3% English search queries.
He has also mentioned on his blog that the rolling out of Penguin 4 for other languages worldwide has also completed. And the results vary depending on the amount of link-spam associated with different languages. Suppose French language has more web-spam – Google France would see a larger impact comparative to others.

The link on his tweet leading to a blog post on his blog about the announcement of this roll out. Matt Cutts say – This is not a data refresh. This is an updation of Penguin algorithm. That’s why they are referring this as Penguin 2.0 or next generation of Penguin internally.
As said by Matt Cutts, this update is a major one which goes much deeper with addition of more algorithms to detect link-spam affection more sites.
